Need a doping for love?

Monday, April 11, 2011

We initiated 18 new members into the sorority this Saturday.
These are the gifts that I made for the new members

I made corsages. Used some bead work to make them sparkle. Some corsages had red, purple, yellow, white or green beads. I used a gold colored 20 gauge wire. The flowers came from Micheals. I had to purchase 12 violets springs to create the corsages. Because the stamens were white, I had to color each of them with yellow paint. I don't think that I will ever do this again. I am tulled out for the time being.
The middle corsage was crocheted using mercerized cotton.

It doesn't work

I saw this on www.passiveaggressivenotes.com and felt compelled to comment.

As a sorority advisor, I visit the sorority house almost weekly. For the past six years, I have requested that the sisters keep diet soda, water or something in the fridge for me to drink. I am in my late 30s and they in their early 20s. We have different needs. I volunteer my time and drive 20 minutes one-way in order to be their adviser. I have earned the right to expect a dedicated drink in the fridge for me. Unfortunately, young adults are only concerned with their own drinking needs. They stock liquids like Tahitian Treat and Stars and Stripes.

One week, I was expected to be there almost everyday. I purchased some Simply Limeade for me to drink while at the house. A healthy drink befitting a diva like myself.

Knowing that sorority girls expect to share everything, I turned up the bottle in full view of most of the chapter. I figure
d this was more direct than writing my name on it or simply asking them to not drink it.

I ignored their protests. Their comments about lacking class or being obnoxious. I was determined to mark my Simply Limeade. I drunk it and placed the bottle in the community fridge. I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand for effect.

The next day, I went directly to the fridge before stopping to greet the sisters. There was no Simply Limeade. The Simply Lemonade that my co-advisor purchased for her personal consumption was also gone. I expected that because she hadn't tipped it up.

I was angry for almost a week over that until they purchased a bottle for me a few days later.

Nothing will stop someone from using or drinking your stuff if it is in the fridge.

Updates

Projects

I rearranged bedroom.  Now the draft is at the foot of my bed.  The electric blanket is working again.

I upgraded my cell phone package.  All of you who have my number.  Text away....

The garage door closed yesterday but not today.  Go figure.

To pass the time, I thought I would give you a tour of my office.

Come In.  There are three major suites on my floor.  The floor plan has three thermostats.  The really smart computers have determined that my suite is classroom space and automatically turns down the heat when classes are done.  It is located in another area that is obviously warmer than my office area because I am always cold.  If I walk two yards to the right, there is warmth.  The right suite has its thermostat in different area.  Sometimes the difference is as noticeable as walking into a heated building from the outside.  It gets that cold.
Desk My Desk.  I have everything close to me.  I have no choice.  Yes, there is a doll by my telephone wearing a sorority t-shirt.  Sometimes you need to have some fun at your job.
Planning Planning.  I must keep things within reach in order to stay on task.
Work I like pretty things in my office.
Picture Gallery I keep pictures of my family on top of the hutch.  Everyone is there.  Mr. Twinkie and Hostess Bread were gifts from my Grandpa who worked at Hostess for 33 years.
My computer I painted that picture as a Junior in High School.  It makes my office girly.
Me AT My Desk Mysteriously, my bad aches whenever I bend, hiccup or walk.  This workout ball allows me to work.  This has been going on for two days now.  I hope you enjoyed my tour.  This is where I spend more than 40 hours a week.  I love my job.  I have made it very comfy here.

Stop reading if you are a man......

I am back to working on the openwork shawl.  Last year, I unraveled it twice.  Third time is the charm.
